Washington Wizards Season Update
Of all the professional sports teams in D.C., few have the kind of expectations placed on the Washington Wizards. Though they’ve made the playoffs three out of their last four seasons, the ultimate outcome has been consistent: After winning their first round series, the Wizards fell in the eastern semifinals in each of their previous three playoff berths.
Will this be the year the Wizards finally get over the conference semifinals hump and make a run at winning the east? With their electric point guard John Wall leading the way and support from rising young stars like Bradley Beal and Kelly Oubre, Jr., this very well could be the Wizards’ year.

How are the 2017-2018 Washington Wizards Doing?

The season is young, but so far the Wizards are off to a solid start with a 9-5 record, tied for third-best in the NBA’s eastern conference. John Wall is playing particularly well, averaging over 20 points a game and 9.4 assists, third-most in the league. The Wizards have won their last four in a row including on the road against Miami and at home versus Atlanta, Los Angeles and Sacramento.

Significant Upcoming Wizards Home Games

  • Friday, December 1 vs. Detroit – The Pistons have quietly gotten off to a hot start, with a 10-4 record good for second in the east. This contest between two of the conference’s top teams is sure to have an impact on the east’s rankings.
  • Sunday, December 17 vs. Cleveland – The Cavs have won the east for the last three years, and though LeBron and company may be more focused on winning a title, the Wizards haven’t forgotten about the Cavaliers beating them in the first round of the playoffs three years in a row from 2005 to 2007.
  • Friday, December 29 vs. Houston – Led by star guards James Harden and Chris Paul, the Rockets have the third-best record in the league behind only Boston and Golden State. Chris Paul has only played in one game so far, but is returning to the lineup this week and should be healthy for this matchup.
