2019 Mid-Season Update on the Washington Nationals in Alexandria and D.C.

July has been fruitful for the hometown Nationals, as the team has notched 8 wins in the month's first 10 games. The end of May was a different story, though, as the season seemed to be in trouble for the Nats. Here's what's going on for the Washington Nationals this season and how hope for the playoffs is back in the game:

Coming Back for the Playoffs: The 2019 Washington Nationals Season Isn't Over Yet

The Nats are standing at second in the NL East, but that wasn't the case as of May 24. On that day, at the start of the game against the Marlins, the Nats were at a record-low in standing: 12 games under .500. Since May 24 though, when the Nats won against the Marlins 12-10, there has been a boisterous return to form that gives the Nats hope for a wildcard spot in the playoffs. The sports media has been crowing at the team's comeback, including CBS Sports and Sports Illustrated.

Upcoming Series at Home for the Washington Nationals

The Nats are spending a good portion of the next month staying home for games. Exciting upcoming home series at Nationals Park include:

  • Colorado Rockies - July 22, 23, 24, 25
  • Atlanta Braves - July 29, 30, 31
  • Cincinnati Reds - August 12, 13, 14
  • Milwaukee Brewers - August 16, 17, 18

Hanging Out at Nationals Park for Home Games

There are many attractions around Nationals Park for baseball fans to explore while waiting for a game to begin. A few of our favorite stops include:

The Bullpen - This outdoor venue in the Navy Yard opens two hours before every Washington Nationals game. Grab a cold brew and check out the food trucks before heading to a game.

Canal Park - Hang out here for a cooldown on the splash pad during the warmer months of the baseball season.

The National Air and Space Museum - Part of the Smithsonian's collection of museums with free admission, the Air and Space Museum or any of the city's other galleries are a great choice to check out during the day before a later game.
