A Spook-tacular Halloween 2017 in Alexandria
The season of ghostly sightings and goosebump-raising storytelling is upon us in Alexandria. Whether it’s a ghoul or a bowl of candy behind the door, you won’t know unless you ask the magic words: “Trick or Treat?” Here are a few of our favorite spooky events going on in and around Alexandria for Halloween:

Trick or Treat at the Carlyle House Historic Park

Bring your costumed little ones for fun, free, and safe trick or treating from 5 to 7 PM on October 31. The treats and tricks will come in 18th century fashion at this historic home, which is said to be one of Alexandria’s most haunted establishments. In the case of inclement weather, check on the status of the event by calling the museum.

Alexandria’s Original Ghost and Graveyard Tour

Depart from the Ramsay House Visitor Center in Old Town and follow an old-fashioned lantern carried by an entertaining and knowledgeable guide. You’ll hear the best of Alexandria’s unsolved mysteries and haunting tales of vengeful ghosts. Tours take place every evening starting at 7:30 in October, though for an even more hair-raising experience, attend Friday and Saturdays’ 9:30 tours.

Trick-or-Treating at Mt. Vernon

On October 27 and 28 from 3:30 PM to 6:30 PM, George Washington’s Mt. Vernon will be celebrating with wagon rides, Halloween-inspired craft shops, a costume parade at 5 PM, and prizes for the best George and Martha Washington costumes. Rain or shine, bring your family and go back in time for this trick or treating event.
