The Old Town Alexandria district along the edge of the Potomac River is a nationally designated historic site and a place that our first president, George Washington, once called home. There is an abundance of shopping for a friends’ day out and excellent food to enjoy with a special date along one of America’s “Great Streets,” which we know as King Street. Here are a few of our favorite things to do and see in Old Town Alexandria.

Things to Do in Old Town Alexandria

Old Town’s historic charm extends to the happenings in the district as well:
  • Old Town Farmers’ Market – Our nation’s oldest, continuously running Farmers’ Market happens in Market Square on King Street every Saturday from 7 AM to 12 PM throughout the year.
  • Shopping – Take retail therapy to another level with the unique and exquisite items to be found within the 100-plus boutiques cozied up to King Street.
  • Dinner on the Waterfront – Several of Old Town’s restaurants are located on the shores of the Potomac. Enjoy the view and some of the best seafood around at places like Chart House and Vola’s Dockside Grill.
