If you love music with soul, Northern Virginia is the place to be. This June 9 through 11, the Tinner Hill Blues Festival will take over the town of Falls Church. Over 10 different acts will be playing a variety of blues, folk, and rock tunes at different locations throughout the city. Here’s what you can expect at this family-friendly, three-day musical experience:
Tinner Hill Blues Festival Schedule
The festival kickoff begins Friday, June 9 at 5 PM at Mad Fox Brewing Company. Several bands will be performing at the brewery until 8 PM, when Blues on Broad begins. Live music is featured at several bars and restaurants on Broad Street in Falls Church. Venues will have free or low admission cost. Saturday is the official welcoming ceremony from the City of Falls Church, including a performance of God Bless America. Blues acts will be playing all afternoon until 8 PM, when the festival turns into a Blues Crawl to the most popular spots in Falls Church. JV’s Restaurant will host the after party featuring saxophonist Kareem Walkes & blues guitarist Slam Allen. On Sunday, the festivities move to the Tinner Hill Historic Site in Falls Church for a free gospel blues picnic. From 2 PM to 5 PM, rain or shine, come out and enjoy tunes from The Carter Singers and The Barbour Travelers, plus complimentary lemonade and sweet tea.
