16th Library of Congress National Book Festival

Reading fans don’t want to miss this free event: on September 24 from 8:30 AM to 10 PM the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in downtown D.C. will host some of the world’s top authors including Stephen King, Lois Lowry and Raina Telgemeier. These celebrity authors will present about a variety of topics including books to movies, graphic novels, teen literature, and more. The festival will also include panels about poetry, contemporary racial issues, and politics

DC Beer Week 2016

From September 24 to October 1, some of the District’s most popular breweries and restaurants are sponsoring a series of events celebrating the capital’s love of beer. Marquee events of the week include Port City’s Commonwealth Classics on September 27 from 6:00 to 7:00 PM at the Heurich House Museum and the 3 Stars Hopfunk Fest on Sunday, September 25 from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM at 3 Stars Brewing Company in D.C.

Mount Vernon Fall Wine Festival & Sunset Tour 2016

This October 7 through 9, George Washington’s famous estate will play host to an exciting event for lovers of wine and good music. Guests can take a tour of Washington’s home and enjoy a wine tasting, live music at sunset, and a meet and greet with historical characters of the estate. Festival hours are from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM on all three days.
