Fall 2017 events in Alexandria and D.C.
Summer 2017 is now officially past, but that doesn’t mean the fun (or the warm weather) has gone away in Alexandria and D.C. If you’re going to be in the capital region over the next few months, here is a list of some of the best festivals, shows, and celebrations on tap for the fall:

Das Best Oktoberfest

Want an authentic Oktoberfest experience without crossing the ocean to Germany? Look no further than Das Best Oktoberfest, taking over the National Harbor on Saturday, September 30. The $39 admission ticket includes unlimited beer sampling from over 120 different brewers of wine, beer, and schnapps. There will also be classic German fair foods like bratwurst, knockwurst, and pretzels, team games and contests, live music, and much more.

Art on the Avenue 2017 in Del Ray

Celebrate the thriving local culture of art and diversity at this year’s Art on the Avenue festival, held on Mt. Vernon Avenue on Saturday, October 7. Tens of thousands of visitors flock here to take in exhibitions by hundreds of woodworkers, pottery makers, painters, glass makers, and more. Food vendors sell everything from Indian food to crab cakes to chocolate bananas, while children can enjoy crafts like pumpkin painting and scarecrow stuffing. For full details, check out the event’s website.

The 42nd Annual Virginia Wine Festival

Whether you are a casual wine drinker or an experienced connoisseur, the Virginia Wine Festival at Oronoco Bay Park in Alexandria is the chance to taste some of the best wines in the Old Dominion in a beautiful waterfront setting. Wineries offering tastings include Lake Anna Winery, Notaviva Vineyards, The Williamsburg Winery, and many more. General admission tickets this year also include access to the VA Oyster Pavilion, where you can enjoy freshly-shucked oysters from the Chesapeake Bay region. The event will also feature food trucks, live music, and activities for kids.

Choosing a hotel in Alexandria for fall 2017

If you’re planning on visiting the DMV in the coming months, it’s important you have a dependable place to stay. With easy access to the National Harbor and D.C., complimentary breakfast with your stay, and a free shuttle to the metro, the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Alexandria – Fort Belvoir is the only place you need to consider for a relaxing, enjoyable stay in the D.C. region.
