Hopes are high for the Nationals this year since finishing first in the NL East last season. The team is hyped up and beginning to gain traction on this season. With a long string of home games on the horizon, most fans are expecting improvement on the Nationals’ current 10-12 record.

The Washington Nationals’ 2018 Season Update

The Washington Nationals’ first series out of Spring Training was against the Cincinnati Reds - the Nationals swept the Reds, taking all four games. After that, the season turned a bit rocky, with the team dropping 7 out of their next 9, including suffering a sweep at the hands of the Mets, one of the best teams in the league this year. The up-and-down continued last week; after winning 4 out of 5 games, the Nats lost to the Dodgers both Saturday and Sunday.

After a three-game cross-country trip to San Francisco, the Nats return home on Wednesday and stay there until the week of May 7th. The upcoming series against the Arizona Diamondbacks, Pittsburgh Pirates, and the Philadelphia Phillies are all home games every night from April 27 to May 6. These home outings are a great opportunity for the Nationals’ to start pulling ahead on their standings – and for local fans to enjoy all the fun of baseball in D.C.

Coming to Nationals Park for a Home Game

Baseball fans can enjoy the opportunity to take a tour of Nationals Park while waiting for a game to start. Stops along the tours include visits to the Press Box and the PNC Diamond Club.

During downtime before or after a game, there are many attractions around Nationals Park to explore, including:

The Yards Park – With summer close at hand, so are the Friday Night Concerts at this popular park. Kids will also enjoy the shallow “river” to splash in and large expanse of soft grassy fields to race on.

The District Winery – Located within The Yards, this winery offers tours, tastings, and a place to eat. Their beautiful setup and delicious wines will delight all of the wine lovers who pass through.

The Bullpen – This Nationals Park staple consists of a full-service bar and a parking lot surrounded by interesting décor. Fans will often congregate for a game of cornhole before or after the Nats play. What it lacks in sophistication it makes up for in tradition, but try to visit soon – there are questions about the future of this legendary watering spot.

Choosing a Hotel for Upcoming Nationals’ Home Games

If you’re planning on coming to see the Washington Nationals play at home, it’s important you have a quality place to stay. With easy access to D.C. and Nationals Park, complimentary breakfast with your stay, and a free shuttle to the metro, the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Alexandria – Fort Belvoir is the perfect place to run home for any baseball fan this year.
