Earth Day 2016 With NASA

From 9:30 AM til 5:00 PM on Friday the 22nd you can celebrate Earth Day at Union Station with astronauts and scientists from NASA. The free, all-day event will include exhibits, live demonstrations, speeches and a chance to get an autograph from a NASA astronaut.

Anacostia Watershed Society’s 2016 Earth Day Cleanup

Over 2,000 volunteers this year will be cleaning neighborhoods, parks and streams at various sites around D.C., Montgomery County and Prince George’s County, Maryland. The cleanup takes place on April 23 from 9:00 AM until 12:00 PM. Following the cleanup, there will be an Earth Day Celebration from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM at RFK Stadium. Volunteers will receive a free t-shirt and complimentary lunch at the post-cleanup celebration. Those interested can register to volunteer at the Anacostia Watershed Society website.

Alexandria Earth Day 2016

The city of Alexandria will be hosting its own Earth Day celebration the week after Earth Day, on Saturday April 30 at Lenny Harris Memorial Fields at Braddock Park. Between 10 AM and 2 PM, attendees can enjoy educational exhibits, live music, food trucks, and the Upcycling Showcase, a demonstration in which students showcase their own personal interpretation of Earth Day using art.
