Summer is bringing long days and short nights, festivals, and gatherings by the water. With events ranging from arts and crafts exhibits to pub crawls, summertime in Alexandra and DC is one of the best times of the year.
Start your summer off right at the Portside in Old Town Summer Festival. It's happening at Waterfront Park on June 22 in Old Town Alexandria. Explore unique exhibits such as the beer garden from Port City Brewing Company and the instrument petting zoo by Alexandria's new School of Rock. This free event runs from 2 PM to 8 PM and includes largely varied genres of music, local food, and many arts and crafts activities.
A favorite summer event in Old Town Alexandria is happening on July 13: the 6th Annual Port City Old Town Pub Crawl. Visit all the stops designated on the Pub Crawl Pass between 1:30 PM and 6 PM to earn a limited edition pint glass. After spending a long summer day exploring the pubs Old Town has to offer, head to Murphy's at 6 PM for the after-party hosted by the pub crawl.
Food trucks and a nice selection of beer will be available during this year's Old Town Arts & Crafts Fair at Waterfront Park. While you're enjoying a cold drink and delicious snacks, there will be arts and crafts ranging from recycled and eclectic jewelry to clothing for pets. The Arts & Crafts Fair is a free event and is open from 10 AM to 6 PM on July 27.
