Sports fans all over the D.C. metro area are getting out their burgundy and gold and firing up their tailgate grills –Redskins football is back! With the team’s hopes riding on quarterback Kirk Cousins and an NFC East division with lots of vulnerabilities, this could be a big year for the ‘Skins. Here’s what to expect:

Changes since last season

The Redskins are coming off a relatively successful 2015 season, which saw them win the NFC East and post a 9-7 record. Since last season, the Redskins have added star cornerback Josh Norman to the roster and hope for the continued development of quarterback Kirk Cousins and tight end Jordan Reed.

How are the Redskins doing so far in the 2016 season?

After a tough season opening loss to the formidable Pittsburgh Steelers and a messy defeat at the hands of Dallas Cowboys’ rookie quarterback Dak Prescott, the Redskins have gotten back on track with two consecutive wins on the road against the New York Giants and at home versus the Cleveland Browns. Next up they face tough challenges on the road against their east coast rivals, the Baltimore Ravens, and a tough home game against division foes – the Philadelphia Eagles, led by rookie phenom Carson Wentz.
