    More than 400,000 veterans and heroes are buried at Arlington, including presidents William Howard Taft and John F. Kennedy. Other notable Americans buried at the site include WWII Army Chief of Staff, George C. Marshall, the U.S. Army's first female surgeon Dr. Anita Newcomb McGee, highly-decorated WWII soldier Audie Murphy, civil rights activist Medgar Evers, Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall, and medical pioneer Major Walter Reed. The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier contains the unidentified remains of service members from both World Wars and the Korean conflict.
  • How can I join a tour of Arlington National Cemetery?

    Arlington National Cemetery Tours offers guided hop on, hop off tours to the notable graves and memorials in the 600-acre cemetery grounds. Knowledgeable guides offer stories about the cemetery's history and the many heroes who rest there and visitors enjoy the flexibility to debark and explore at 7-10 different stops along the way. Tours depart continuously from the Welcome Center from 8:30am-4pm, October 1-March 31 and from 8:30am-6pm, April 1-September 30. Tickets are $13.50 adults; $10 seniors (65+); $6.75 children (3-11) and active military with ID. Children 2 and under and military members in uniform ride free.
